Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
