Jet Carrying Pete Hegseth Forced to Touch Down in UK Due to Fracture in Cockpit Window
An aircraft transporting the US defense secretary was forced to make an emergency landing in the UK on Wednesday due to a fissure was discovered in the aircraft's cockpit window, per an official announcement which confirmed that the secretary was unharmed.
"The jet landed in accordance with established safety measures and everyone onboard, among them Secretary Hegseth, is safe," a spokesperson said in a public statement.
He was traveling back from a brief trip to the city of Brussels at the time.
This incident is not the first time that a United States armed forces jet ferrying a senior official has encountered technical problems.
In a previous incident this year, a United States Air Force aircraft ferrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the city in Germany was required to head back to the US capital after suffering a mechanical fault.
