Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United Despite Leading Abusive Chants About Manager Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with the Championship side just half a year following instigating derogatory songs directed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, a free agent since leaving Leeds United, has agreed to a deal with the second-tier strugglers until January. His lengthy time at Elland Road was ended through agreement in August.

Among the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds was to lead offensive songs regarding Wilder amid Leeds' success festivities in April. Now, the one-cap England player is set to play for Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to rescue his beloved club away from the relegation zone.

Past History Between the Striker & the Manager

The pair had history before Leeds won promotion back to the top flight last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder called Bamford as a "muppet" when the situation was different in 2018-19 and the Blades secured automatic promotion while Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Looking Ahead

Everything seems has been resolved with United, the Championship’s least productive attack, urgently requiring of a boost in attack while Bamford aiming to resurrect his career.

The Wilder chant gained traction this spring. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Chris Wilder said at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I have no problem whatsoever with it. I'm uncertain about the words used from a fellow professional! But I valued and admired him calling me.

“We had a short while and similarly I spoke to Daniel Farke as well and had a longer discussion with him and he is a great person, a top guy. When I was playing we used to give it and take it and that is part and parcel of football across all levels, even on a Sunday morning. I have no problem at all. I am cool with it and I said that to Patrick.”

Recent Playing Challenges

The forward featured in 18 games for Leeds last season but the ex- Forest, Chelsea FC and Boro striker has faced difficulties with injury over the past few seasons.
