Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's ten-game without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the names to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club directors as they begin the process of hiring a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to provide any compensation.
